Welcome to Villa Cabomar
Welcome to Villa Cabomar where you can experience the “pura vida” of Costa Rica in an atmosphere of privacy, relaxation and comfort. Costa Rica is known for its friendly, warm and laid back pace of life – pura vida – and we are dedicated to creating a place where you can enjoy the attractions of Costa Rica while staying in a place that’s yours.

The days at Villa Cabomar start with breakfast prepared by the Villa’s full time housekeeper – Teresita. Breakfast always features freshly brewed Costa Rican coffee, fresh tropical fruits and other traditional Costa Rican breakfast dishes including gallo pinto, eggs, and sausage. You can choose to have breakfast served on a dining table that seats 8 and is custom made from Costa Rican sustainable wood. Or, breakfast can be served on the patio under the bougainvillea while listening to the sounds of the morning birds.

After breakfast the day is yours. If you chose to stay near the Villa, the beach is a block away. Puntarenas Beach is popular destination for Costa Ricans on the weekends, but during the week, you have the beach to yourself. Located on the Gulf of Nicoya, the beach is wide with gentle surf and spectacular views of the Gulf Islands and the Nicoya Peninsula. Beach chairs are available for rent on the beach and beach umbrellas can be rented at the Hotel Tioga beachfront.

After a couple of hours in the tropical sun, stop by one of the many restaurants that line Paseo de los Turistas (Boulevard of the Tourists) the main street along the beach for something to eat and a refreshing beverage. Head back to Villa Cabomar and take a nap in your air conditioned bedroom, relax and cool off in the patio pool or tell your friends and family about your adventures using the Villa’s WiFi.

Spend the afternoon getting acquainted with Puntarenas. The city was the main port for Costa Rica until the highways connecting the central part of the country and the Pacific Coast were built or improved. Now Puntarenas is a cruise ship port and the point of embarkation to points of interest and beaches on the Nicoya Peninsula and the province of Guanacaste. The downtown area is a comfortable walk from Villa Cabomar and takes you by the historic cathedral of Puntarenas. Because the city has not been as heavily developed as other parts of Costa Rica there are many architectural places of interest including the cathedral and other buildings in the downtown area. You will find supermarkets, ATMs, pharmacies, bakeries, and more restaurants.

About 5:30 return to the beach and enjoy the evening breezes and the famous Puntarenas sunset over the Nicoya Peninsula. You will be joined by Puntarenas residents taking their evening stroll or jog as well as kids playing soccer on the beach. Walking west on the “Paseo” you will find restored jetties that provide a spectacular vantage point to enjoy the sunset. On your way back to Villa Cabomar stop at one of the many open air restaurants for a moderately priced dinner of fresh seafood and other Costa Rican specialties.

Spend your evening beside the patio spa pool where you can see an infinite number of stars. You’ll find yourself asleep earlier than you ever thought possible allowing you to get an early start on your next day’s adventure.
